"I wish I'd ever had a teacher like that," he says with a faint smile. He doesn't want to think too much about most of his teachers, especially one. "I felt so different from all my family. It was only Brendan, and he was never around."

First Africa, then America. Gabriel sort of understands why, but he also doesn't. How could he not want to be around? How could he not want to see him?

"What did he teach?"
